Students with visual disabilities could soon be enjoiyng an improved learning experience thanks to a pen that talks.
The MPR or ‘Multimedia Print Reader’ is a tool that recites written text. The pen, when held over a book with pre-loaded MPR codes, will read a page’s text aloud – the aim being to increase attention span and concentration of those with impaired vision and those with learning disabilities such as dyslexia.
The pen was launched this week by Indian company Aadarsh Private Limited, which plans on releasing 1,000 MPR-readable books this year. Aadarsh’s goal with products such as the MPR is to encourage students to work independently in the absence of teachers or teachers’ attention.
