| Bigger brains make better video game players |

Scientists have found a correlation between the physical size of a person’s brain and their ability to perform well in video games.
Conducted by the University of Illinois, the University of Pittsburgh and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the study found that people with bigger brains have proportionally larger cognitive abilities, enabling them to respond to tasks such as video game play with faster reflexes. After an MRI scan, scientists determined that just by looking at the size of the part of the brain that controls cognitive skills they could accurately determine how well that person would perform in a video game.
As this region of the brain also controls multitasking abilities and the learning of new skills, this study may help in the future understanding of memory deficiencies such as dementia or Alzheimer’s.
