New websites like Boundless are offering free, digital textbooks instead. Boundless is iPad and laptop-friendly — all students must do is visit the website (http://www.boundless.com) and sign up. On any computer or mobile device, Boundless lets students: Tap into free and open access information and turn it into a functional digital textbook Generate digital resources based on the textbook students would normally have used in the course Highlight and add notes, and Take advantage of the SmartNotes Premium feature, which boils down all the content into easily digested factoids, summaries and roundups. One nice feature: Boundless text has no expiration date. The info isn’t rented and doesn’t cost money because it’s all open source.
